Dear Readers,

Cover Verzeichnis You’re holding in your hands the first dedicated catalog of current de Gruyter medical literature. We’re proud and pleased that program development in this field, which has been accelerating for a while now, has led to the desired results in the form of new, exciting works.

A highlight in the textbook program is Angewandte Humangenetik (New Clinical Genetics) by Read and Donnai. In the original English edition it was recommended reading at leading universities. The German translation has now been revised, expanded and adapted for current exam studies in the human genetics field.

In de Gruyter’s program of medical publications, gynecology and obstetrics have always had special emphasis. This is set to continue, among other things with the 20th updated edition of the texbook Praktische Geburtshilfe (‘Practical obstetrics’) by Joachim W. Dudenhausen, and with development of the series Frauenärztliche Taschenbücher (‘Gynecology handbooks’).

Alongside this, with series and manuals for practitioners, and titles such as Zurück in den Beruf (‘Returning to your profession’) by Mehrhoff and Schian, we are addressing new, practice-focused target groups in the medical field.

The established standard work Pschyrembel® Klinisches Wörterbuch (‘Pschyrembel clinical dictionary’), now published in its 261st edition, is and remains indispensable for all doctors. As ideal addition to this, the Pschyrembel® Handbuch Therapie (‘Psychyrembel therapy handbook’) will be re-issued. The Pschyrembel reference books thus offer a reliable, quick and continually updated guide to the whole field of medicine.
