Biography
I grew up in Tennessee as a Southern Baptist, and am now a member of the Episcopal Church U.S.A. My degree is in philosophical theology from the University of Virginia, and I am currently the associate director of the Honors College at the University of Central Arkansas. I have been a film critic for sixteen years, published around the southeast and on the web. The interdisciplinary focus of the Honors College gives me the opportunity to relate theology and popular culture in my teaching and research. Theologically I am interested in Reformed thought and process theology; cinematically I am drawn to Robert Altman, Terrence Malick, and the Dardenne brothers. I am married to freelance critic Noel Murray (Onion A.V. Club, Hollywood Reporter, and other outlets) and have two children.
