Biography
Born in Kuopio (Finland) 22.4.1959, married since 1982 to psychotherapist Leena Nissinen, father of Elina (1986) and Kaisa (1988). Doctor of Theology (University of Helsinki) 1992. Research Fellow, Academy of Finland, 1994-2002; Prof. of Bible and the Ancient Near East, University of Helsinki, 2002-2007. Editor-in-chief of Teologinen Aikakauskirja (Finnish Journal for Theology). Chairman of the Finnish Exegetical Society. Fields of speciality: Prophecy in the Bible and in the Ancient Near East; Gender issues in the Biblical World and Biblical Interpretation.
