Biography
JOHAN C. THOM was born in 1954 in Bedford, South Africa. He studied Classics at the Universities of Stellenbosch (BA, 1974) and Pretoria (MA, 1980), and New Testament and Early Christian Literature at the University of Chicago (PhD, 1990). He teaches Greek Language and Literature at the University of Stellenbosch, and has been Professor of Classics since 1997. He is recipient of an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (Tübingen, 1995) and a Visiting Membership of the Institute for Advanced Study (Princeton, 2001-2002).
