Biography
Dr David Thomas has been a student and teacher of Christian-Muslim relations for over twenty-five years.
After obtaining undergraduate degrees in English and Theology at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, he taught for two years in the Sudan where he first became acquainted with Islam. He undertook PhD research at the University of Lancaster in the field of early Christian-Muslim relations, and then worked for some years in parish and chaplaincy positions in the Church of England. He is currently Reader in Christianity and Islam in the Department of Theology and Religion, University of Birmingham. His research interests include the history of Christian-Muslim Relations, and Islamic philosophy and theology.
He is editor of the journal Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations, and managing editor of the Brill texts and studies series The History of Christian-Muslim Relations.
