“Handbook of Medieval Studies” is Outstanding Academic Title in 2011
January 20, 2012
De Gruyter’s indispensable medieval research tool “Handbook of Medieval Studies: Terms - Methods - Trends” ed. by Albrecht Classen has been selected as a Choice Outstanding Academic Title 2011.
The English-language interdisciplinary handbook provides extensive information about research in medieval studies and its most important results over the last decades. It is written by an international, interdisciplinary group of experts and edited by Professor Albrecht Classen, University of Arizona, Tuc-son, USA, one of the distinguished specialists in this field.
“Despite the abundance of handbooks and companions in the marketplace, the award can be seen as a recognition of De Gruyter’s aim to publish high-quality reference works that stand out among the competition and provide students and scholars with authoritative reference scholarship. The editor of the handbook clearly has done an outstanding job and service to the field of Medieval Studies”, says Dr. Anke Beck, Vice President Publishing Humanities at De Gruyter.
This year’s Outstanding Academic Title list includes 629 books and electronic resources chosen by the Choice editorial staff from among 7,263 titles. These outstanding works have been selected for their excellence in scholarship and presentation, the significance of their contribution to the field, and their value as important treatment of their subject. Outstanding Academic Titles are truly the “best of the best”.
