De Gruyter – a Publishing House with Tradition
The publishing house of De Gruyter looks back on a long tradition of dedication to the humanities and sciences. For more than 270 years De Gruyter has been publishing standard works of high quality in a wide array of academic fields including, among others, theology, medicine, German studies, mathematics, philosophy and law. As publishing partner of scholars throughout the academic community, De Gruyter is committed to excellence in all disciplines. In the spirit of its legacy, De Gruyter offers an innovative publishing environment at each of its six publishing locations. Here you will find outstanding solutions for maximizing the global dissemination of your research results.
Today, approximately 225 staff members in Germany and in the U.S. work for De Gruyter. Every year we publish around 800 books and more than 170 journals. Each book is also offered as an eBook, and the great majority of our journals are available in electronic format. Our eJournals are also grouped thematically and available in eJournal packages. The unique e-dition project makes more than 50,000 high-quality titles available – nearly all of the works on the backlist representing 260 years of the history of the publishing house. The titles are available both in an electronic version (only for libraries and institutions) and as hardcover reprint. Furthermore, De Gruyter also offers an increasing number of comprehensive databases and other online products such as eBookPlus. De Gruyter's online products are available via our integrated publishing platform.
De Gruyter maintains strong partner relationships with important learned societies across the globe, and these are a main element of De Gruyter's publishing strategy.
