WHO WE ARE: ARTS

De Gruyter’s Arts department comprises the highest quality publications and the widest range of subject areas available anywhere. Traditionally very strong in Studies on Early Modern Art and Images Sciences, we are expanding into more global topics, including a developing program in Islamic and Asian Art History. We are also offering more and more English-language publications as we continue to grow our portfolio.

Outside of books, our program is well-known for the “Allgemeines Künstlerlexikon,” the world’s most contemporary, reliable, and extensive biographical reference work about artists. With an emphasis on quality in both content and production, as well as a wide variety of print and electronic format options, we can help your content get to market, no matter what your publication needs. And, alongside a wide collection of high-caliber titles spanning all academic levels and most major focus areas, you can be assured that your work will find the audience it deserves.
