Cutting and breaking verbs in Otomi: An example of lexical specification

Abstract

In this article, I show that Otomi (Otopamean; Otomanguean) is a language with a high degree of lexical specification and a lack of generic verbs. This phenomenon is illustrated with the study of verbs denoting cutting and breaking events.
