Abstract

The effect of nonlinear concentration profiles on the flow patterns of solutal Rayleigh–Bénard–Marangoni convection has been investigated. It has been demonstrated theoretically that similar to the effect of non-Boussinesq fluids in Rayleigh–Bénard convection, the effect of nonlinear concentration profiles in Rayleigh–Bénard–Marangoni convection gives rise to the formation of hexagonal convection.
