The expression »food of God« is an anthropomorphic metaphor for the nature of God. This expression does not mean simply the sacrifices offered to God, but it underlines the importance of food in real life. The act of eating consolidates the solidarity between God and his creatures and between human beings themselves. The Holiness Code imparts a quality of holiness to the food that is shared by God and his creatures.
