Scriptorium und Bibliothek des Dominikanerinnenklosters St. Katharina St. Gallen
[Scriptorium and Library of St. Katharina’s Convent of Dominican Sisters in St. Gallen]
Series:Scrinium Friburgense 28
Aims and Scope
The Dominican nuns of St. Katharina's Convent in St. Gallen, that was never incorporated into the order, and who joined the reform of the order in the second half of the 15th century of their own spiritual accord, dedicated themselves especially to their library and the production of manuscripts in the convent's own scriptorium. Using this as an exemple, the present study provides a comprehensive overview of monastic text production and important insights into the culture of medieval writing and the cloister as a place of literary culture.
