Aims and Scope
This is the most comprehensive bibliography of the sources to Thüring von Ringoltingen’s “Melusine” produce to date, for it has much greater depth than even detailed incunable bibliographies. The bibliography is arranged according to transmission traditions. The bibliographical record of each edition is compiled on the basis of autopsy, and then subjected to detailed analysis from the perspective of book and language studies and of art history. The commentary then draws together all of the relevant information on the 80 or so preserved editions. In both method and content the bibliography is intended as a pilot study, the interdisciplinary approach of which is without parallel.
