Aims and Scope
The present textbook gives an impressive account of the significance of fibulae for costumes, chronology and craftsmanship from the Bronze Age to the Viking period, but also for ethnic and classical topics in the broadest sense. It caters for students’ urgent need for a survey of the fibula as a central artefact but also presents an unrevised reprint of the comprehensive account of fibulae and costumes from volume 8 of the Reallexikon der Germanischen Altertumskunde.
