Anatol

Following on from Lieutenant Gustl, the second volume of the historical-critical edition of Arthur Schnitzler’s early work presents Anatol. This volume contains the facsimiles of the manuscripts of the seven one-act plays, a precise transcription and a reading text illuminated by editorial apparatus, a literary commentary and an extensive survey of the editions. It also contains various texts, some previously unpublished, that relate to the creation of the work. With all these elements, the edition provides a completely fresh insight into the complex creation process of this cycle of one-act plays that first established Schnitzler’s fame.
