Aims and Scope
Basic researchers in philology have long desired editorial access to the corpus of paraphrastic commentaries on Aristotle’s writings in natural philosophy produced by the famous Byzantine polymath scholar, Theodore Metochites (1270-1332). Publication of this first critical edition and German translation of the paraphrase of Aristotle’s key work, “On Generation and Corruption,” provides philosophers, historians, and Byzantinists with access to a major chapter in the history of Aristotelianism.
