Aims and Scope
The book presents a systematic introduction to political philosophy. It develops the methodological, conceptual and normative foundations of contemporary political philosophy in five chapters (Biological foundations, Political economy, Basic concepts of the philosophy of law, Theory of justice, Institutional legitimacy). At appropriate points in the text, short historical excursuses relate to the history of political philosophy. Following American models in economics and business studies, the material is divided into learning units which can be worked through in a classroom or in independent learning. The individual learning units not only deploy conventional text but also use new graphical methods of presenting and teaching the analytical instruments of political philosophy.
