Aims and Scope
This work presents the 6th century North African poet Coripp’s epic on the accomplishments of the Byzantine commander Johannes Troglita in a new critical edition, including the first full German translation. This work is based on the findings of the monograph "Untersuchungen zur Gestaltung und zum historischen Stoff der Johannis Coripps" (Analysis of the structure and historical content of Coripp’s Johannis) published as UaLG 90 in 2008 and is supplemented by a critical commentary which is published at the same time as this edition (UaLG 92). The new edition takes particular account of the available historical and poetic forerunners and considerably improves the punctuation.
