Making Architecture Public: The Architecture Exhibition – An Environment for a Radical Redesign of the Discipline?

in Research Culture in Architecture

Abstract -

This article reviews innovations in creative practices in architecture and design as reflected through both the medium of architecture exhibitions and the deliberate strategy of off-site reuse of building materials. To illustrate these innovative techniques, two architecture exhibitions by Rotor will be examined as illustrative case studies. The first is Rotor’s exhibitions presented in 2010 at the Venice Biennale, and the second one was staged at the 2014 Bomel Cultural Center in Namur, Belgium. These exhibitions will be reviewed in order to explore the innovative and sustainable architectural reuse of building materials.
