This partnership reinforces our communal mission of widespread scholarly discourse and distribution of critically acclaimed titles to a global audience. De Gruyter has digitized over 2,000 archive titles of the press.

About Columbia University Press

Columbia University Press has a long and storied history in the United States’ publishing industry, as the fourth-oldest university press in the country. Founded in 1893, the objective of the Press is to publish works which encourage studies in a variety of academic areas, including history, the sciences, economics, and literature. During the Press‘s 35th year of publication, discussions began about the creation of The Columbia Encyclopedia, which is notable as the “first comprehensive English-language encyclopedia in one volume.”
