Birkhäuser Acquires Journal Restoration of Buildings and Monuments

July 16, 2014

Beginning in 2015, the journal Restoration of Buildings and Monuments (RBM) will be published by Birkhäuser. Founded in 1995 by Prof. Folker H. Wittmann (formerly of ETH Zurich), RBM was acquired from the publisher Aedificatio Verlag.

"Restoration of Buildings and Monuments is a compelling new addition to our architecture and building catalog, which previously only contained books," says Dr. Ulrich Schmidt, Senior Editorial Director for Art & Architecture at Birkhäuser. "With its international orientation, the journal represents a valuable enrichment to our portfolio."

RBM will be available in print and online versions six times a year.

The sale to Birkhäuser will secure the continued existence of the journal while also ensuring that it is marketed on a broader basis. "The journal is in excellent hands with De Gruyter and its imprint Birkhäuser, which will provide a sound footing for greater international distribution," says Folker H. Wittmann, editor-in-chief of RBM and managing director of Aedificatio Verlag.
