Linguist Claire Bowern has received the prestigious Kenneth L. Hale Award from the Linguistic Society of America for her documentation of the Bardi language in Australia. The Bardi language is currently spoken by fewer than 10 people. A Grammar of Bardi, published in the series of Mouton Grammar Library, is an exemplary work on a highly endangered language.
