For our De Gruyter Group member De Gruyter Open we are currently seeking freelancers as

Language Editor

for pioneering Open Access Books in our publishing programs

  • Agriculture and Forestry,
  • Chemistry,
  • Computer Science,
  • Engineering,
  • Geosciences,
  • History and Archaeology,
  • Life Sciences,
  • Linguistics,
  • Mathematics,
  • Medicine,
  • Philosophy,
  • Physics,
  • Psychology or
  • Theology.

The role would be a home office-based, starting at the earliest possible date.

The Language Editor will have the following duties in one of the mentioned publishing programs:

  • Correction of inadvertent errors, mistakes in grammar, spelling, word order and punctuation
  • Improvement of the English language style, polishing the fluency, providing internal language consistency throughout the entire paper
  • Clarification of text parts where there is room for misinterpretation
  • Reportings to the Managing Editor

The Language Editor will have the following qualifications:

  • PhD student or recent PhD in one of the above mentioned disciplines
  • Well-organized with great attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Native English speaker
  • Online: actively using the Internet
