Launched in 2015, Mathematical Morphology  Theory and Applications is a new Open Access journal. This is the first and only journal totally dedicated to the many facets of Mathematical Morphology. Topics of interest range from the most theoretical aspects, to the widest variety of applications (quality control, multimedia, biomedical imaging, remote sensing, etc.), including advanced algorithms for efficient implementations.

This Special issue is devoted to the extended and improved contributions from the 13th International Symposium on Mathematical Morphology which will be held in Fontainebleau, France, in May 15-17, 2017.

The International Symposium on Mathematical Morphology (ISMM) has established itself as the main scientific event in the field. The aim of this special issue is to present new advances in the field of Mathematical Morphology, both purely theoretical developments and novel applications, which were presented at the Symposium.

Please note that the submitted papers should NOT be the paper published in the conference proceedings, but an extended version of it, including, for example, a more complete description of the state of the art, a more detailed presentation of the contribution, more experiments and a more in depth analysis.

Before submission authors should carefully read the Instructions for Authors, which are located at http://www.degruyter.com/view/j/mathm.

Manuscripts should be submitted via online submission system Editorial Manager available for this journal at http://www.editorialmanager.com/mathmorph
