Computational and Mathematical Biophysics: Bio-molecular data modeling and mining

We are currently accepting submissions for our upcoming special issue entitled “Bio-molecular data modeling and mining”, which will be published in the journal, Computational and Mathematical Biophysics (CMB). The purpose of this special issue is to create a medium for researchers from mathematical, computational, biological sciences, biophysics and other related disciplines to report novel mathematical models, computational algorithms, and biological applications to the data mining, machine learning, knowledge discovery and pattern recognition from large-scale bio-molecular data of various types, dimensionalities and modalities, include but not limit to 1D sequence, 2D image, 3D volume and molecular structure data.

As a recently established journal, CMB (https://www.degruyter.com/view/j/cmb) is the formal continuation of Molecular Based Mathematical Biology, published by De Gruyter. The mission of CMB is to publish the highest quality work that promotes the development of theoretical formulations, mathematical models, numerical algorithms, and computational techniques for elucidating molecular mechanisms and for solving open problems at the forefront of molecular bioscience and biophysics.



Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
  • Bio-molecular multi-dimensional and multi-modality data analysis
  • Image processing, graphical modeling and visualization
  • Geometric and topological modeling of macromolecules
  • Structural determination and molecular shape analysis of molecules
  • Structure Alignment of macromolecules
  • Machine learning and data mining in molecular big data
  • Algorithms, analysis and validation for bio-molecular data
  • Molecule-related software or database development
  • Gene regulatory network and genome wide association study
  • Metagenomics data analysis and modeling of Epigenetics data
  • Single cell sequencing data analysis


Before submission authors should carefully read over the author guidelines, which are located at http://www.degruyter.com/view/j/cmb. All manuscripts are subject to the standard peer review process before publication. Please note the publisher has waived the Article Processing Charges for this special issue, but articles will be open-access in accordance with the overall goals of the journal.

Prospective authors should submit their manuscript on line at http://mlbmb.edmgr.com/

When entering your submission in the system choose the option Bio-molecular data modeling and mining as an article type.

Submissions for the special issue are now open.

The deadline for the submissions is October 1, 2018, but individual papers will be reviewed and published online as they arrive.

Important Dates:
Manuscript Due, Oct. 1, 2018;
First round of reviews: Nov. 15, 2018;
Anticipated publication date: March 1, 2019.
