Special Issue on Applied Geomorphology 2019

                               ◄ Back to journal

The series of Geomorphology conference has been organised jointly by Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of The Warsaw University of Life Sciences and The Association of Polish Geomorphologists once every two years. The first edition of this national conference took place in Warsaw, in 2014.
The main aim of the conference is to bring together communities of geomorphologists, Quaternary geologists and geoengineers, and to enable them exchanging the knowledge and research findings. Fruitful discussion between members of these communities can lead to broadening their research scopes, enrichment in used methodology as well as improvement in data precision. In the previous years, the conferences were attended by hydrotechnicians, geotechnicians, environmental engineers, and applied geologists.
The first conference topic was focused on the application of geomorphologic measurements and tests in environmental engineering and environment formation. The second edition addressed modelling and forecasting of environmental changes.
The third edition of Geomorphology conference is taking place between 5th and 7th June 2019 in European Centre For Geological Education, in Chęciny (Holy Cross Mountains). The theme of the third edition is focused on natural and activated geomorphological processes. The meeting is co-organised by Faculty of Geology, University of Warsaw. The topics that will be covered by the third Geomorphology conference participants include:

  • structural conditioning of morphodynamic processes and their significance for planning and investment decisions,
  • dynamics of morphogenetic processes (their identification, monitoring and modelling),
  • geomorphological aspects of river engineering (regulation, restoration as well as flood prevention),
  • geomorphology in geological-engineering and hydrogeological projects,
  • geomorphological issues in geochemical and hydrochemical research,
  • geomorphological aspects in formulating environmental impact assessments,
  • geodiversity and cultural values of geological sites as a factor in  protected areas management.

All participants presenting original researches or reviews are welcome to publish their works in the Special Issue of Open Geosciences.

The Guest Editors of this Special Issue are: Dr. Tomasz Falkowski and Dr. Ewa Falkowska.

All manuscripts (research and review papers) should be submitted online at https://www.editorialmanager.com/opengeo/default.aspx.
The online paper processing system provides a track dedicated to this Special Issue – please make sure that the option “Applied Geomorphology 2019” is selected when you submit your manuscript. Open Geosciences ensures that all submitted papers will be considered by the editor and will go through peer-review process as any other paper. Accepted articles will be indexed, abstracted and published.

The deadline for submission is July 30, 2019. Once paper is accepted for publication, authors will be asked to cover Article Processing Charges (APC). For this special issue APC was reduced by 50% (APC = 500 EUR). In case of questions or further detailed information please contact Managing Editor – Dr. Jan Barabach (Jan.Barabach@deguyter.com).

Authors publishing in Open Geosciences enjoy the following benefits:

  • IMPACT FACTOR (2017) - 0.696
