The high-intake of resources, wastage of resources, food hazards during manufacturing and handling keeps our food system under the constant scrutiny of authorities, stakeholders and society. All the actors within the food supply chain continuously strive to reduce the negative impacts on their economies, environment and other societal challenges. The rapid advancement in the Internet of Things (IoT) technology is growing with the constant dropping in prices of sensors allowing people and food industry to buy into this new concept.
