Change and Adaptation in Socio-Ecological Systems: Special Issue on RegioResources 21 2016

Emilio R. Díaz-Varela, University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain

CASES invites manuscripts for the Special Issue dedicated to the conference RegioResources 21 2016 (Lugo (Spain), October 19-21, 2016). RegioResources 21 had as central topic the cultural ecosystem services (ES) and cultural heritage as key motives for a sustainable regional development, and functioned as a forum for the critical discussion on the role of cultural ES and cultural heritage (including cultural landscapes, rural traditions and urban assets) in rural, urban and regional planning. Different methods on mapping and assessment of cultural ES were addressed, as well as how to involve them more proactively in planning and decision making. The state of art on how cultural ES and cultural heritage contribute to restore social-ecological systems and enhance actor collaboration was also explored. We kindly invite to all presenters to contribute to this Special Issue by submitting their manuscripts in the form of short papers, showing the different case studies, methods and examples presented in the conference.

The authors are kindly invited to register at our paper processing system at: http://www.editorialmanager.com/cases/ and submit their contribution using a special track established for this Special Issue (RegioResources21 2016). All papers will go through the CASES’ high standards, quick, fair and comprehensive peer-review procedure. Instructions for authors are available here. In case of any questions please contact Guest Editor, Emilio R. Díaz-Varela or Journal Editor, Christine Fürst.
