Innovation and Impact: Topical Issue on Polish Scientific Networks

Dr hab. Artur Bednarkiewicz (Institute of Low Temperatures and Structure Research PAS, Wroclaw Research Centre EIT+) – a physicist and a founder of NAOMIS group developing applications of luminescent nanoparticles in bio-detection and imaging

Dr Iwona Cymerman (VersaBox Sp. z o.o.) – a specialist in life sciences, actively supporting innovative start-ups (e.g. NanoVelos S.A., VersaBox Sp. z o.o.)

Dr Karolina Czarnecka (Medical University of Lodz) – a specialist in human genetics and medical biology and an innovation broker



Conference „Polish Scientific Networks: Science and Business” was held on June 30th-July 2nd, 2016 in Wroclaw Research Centre EIT+. This unique event was directed to scientists interested in commercialization of their research and to entrepreneurs wishing to improve innovativeness of their companies. The meeting was meant as a platform facilitating cooperation between science and business and, more generally, interaction between science and society. This special issue is an account of the PSN conference, the presentations and discussions that took place there.

The Special Issue is dedicated to the following subjects:

  • Novel technologies, including IT and biotechnology, and their future in Poland
  • Social innovations and a role of science in solving modern society problems
  • Supporting collaboration between science and business


HOW TO SUBMIT (for conference participants)

Before submission authors should carefully read the Instructions for Authors, which are located at: http://www.degruyter.com/view/j/iai
Submissions are due by 30 of June. To submit an article for Innovation & Impact, please use the on-line submission system choosing as article type: „Girls go start-up”. All articles should be submitted in English. Accepted papers will be published continuously.
Contributors to the Topical Issue will benefit from:

  • fair and constructive peer review provided by recognized experts in the field,
  • Open Access to your article for all interested readers,
  • fast online publication of articles,
  • no publication fees,
  • free language assistance for authors from non-English speaking regions;
