29. Corpus-informed vocabulary teaching: a case study on energy discourse in German

Abstract

In recent years, language teachers have started to use corpora for vocabulary lessons more frequently. In this contribution, we use an energy-related German language corpus (EnerGE), a part of the ZHAW multilingual energy corpus. Our intention is to exemplify the use of both corpus automatic analyses (i. e. text complexity index) and corpus-driven investigations (i. e. cluster and collocations patterns) in order to support teachers in their selection of appropriate vocabulary exercises in German.
