Abstract

Fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) in biodiesel were determined by highperformance liquid chromatography. Individual FAME was separated in 35 min using a mobile phase of methanol and acetonitrile (80:20 v/v) at a flow rate of 1 mL/min. The analytical performance parameters such as linearity, accuracy, precision, limits of detection and quantification with different detection modes (UV detection at 210 nm and evaporative light scattering detection at 40 °C) were compared. The method with UV detector fulfills the requirements for reliable and feasible analysis of FAMEs in commercial biodiesel.
