1 In situ tools for the exploration of structure–property relationships

From the book Crystallography in Materials Science

  • Claudia Weidenthaler

Abstract

For understanding structure-property relationships, investigations under non-ambient conditions or process conditions are indispensable. Today, a large number of different spectroscopic, microscopic, and diffraction methods are available to monitor how materials change under reaction conditions. Based on the results, it is possible to draw conclusions about structure-property interactions under operation. Depending on the specific application and its respective requirements, materials can be modified and optimized.
