16 Distribution of events in time and space

From the book A Grammar of Coastal Marind

  • Bruno Olsson

Abstract

This chapter groups together a number of verbal categories that describe how events are distributed in time and space. The first three sections discuss categories that have vaguely aspect-like meanings: §16.1 describes the use of Pluractional forms, §16.2 describes the Repetitive i- and §16.3 describes the Prioritive ka-. The remaining sections concern distribution in space: §16.4 describes the Remote an-, §16.5 the Contessive ap-, §16.6 the Inessive kw-, and §16.7 the Venitive suffix -em.
