Abstract

Private libraries developed in Western European cities at the end of the eleventh century, in connection with the spread of the practice of writing and autographs. In this article we study the influence that these libraries exerted as a cultural model, not only through the works they contain, but also through the ways in which books were supplied and transmitted.
