Annual meeting of the EOS: EOSAM 2018
Delft, The Netherlands, 8–12 October, 2018
The European Optical Society (EOS) biennial meeting (EOSAM) will be held in Delft, The Netherlands from the 8th to the 12th October 2018. The symposium includes several topical meetings, tutorials, workshops, industrial exhibition and more. The Netherlands is the hot spot for photonics in Europe and the strong optics research and industry in Delft makes it a perfect location to hold the upcoming symposium.
The symposium is organized in co-operation with the Technical University of Delft (TU Delft), The Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO), and the local EOS Branch society, PhotonicsNL.
The industrial exhibition held alongside the conference brings industry and research closer together. Industrial poster sessions are also planned, where companies have a chance to present their key technology competences to conference attendees.
The topical meetings (TOMS) at EOSAM 2018 will include:
TOM 1 – Silicon Photonics and Guided-wave Optics
TOM 2 – Freeform Optics
TOM 3 – Optical System Design, Tolerancing and Manufacturing
TOM 4 – Bio-Medical Optics
TOM 5 – Metamaterials, Plasmonics and Resonant Nanophotonics
TOM 6 – Frontiers in Optical Metrology
TOM 7 – Organic and Hybrid Semiconductor Materials and Devices
TOM 8 – Adaptive Optics and Information driven optical systems
TOM 9 – Tapered Optical Fibers, from Fundamental to Applications – NEW
In addition, a session for disseminating European projects is planned, where results can be shared and displayed. For the third time, partners in EU projects are invited to present their results in this special session. Any topic of optics and photonics is acceptable.
Special events at EOSAM 2018
The sixth ‘Grand Challenges of Photonics’ session will contain discussions on technologies which are revolutionary, uncommon and not realizable to date, but can pave the way for an even brighter future in optics and photonics.
For the third time the EOS will celebrate the early career professionals in photonics with photonics awards for entrepreneurs and female researchers who have made outstanding contributions to photonics. The EOS Prize will be awarded to encourage a European dimension in research in pure or applied optics. The prize will be awarded to the authors of a research paper on the field of any branch of optics. The best student oral and poster presentations are again sponsored by Carl Zeiss AG.
In previous years, EOSAM has been attended by people from all over Europe, the US, Asia and Australia. The EOS invites attendees all over the world to again join in a week full of the latest research, industrial applications, networking and a lot more. See you in Delft!
