Zusammenfassung
Der Aufsatz gibt einen knappen Überblick über die geschichtliche Entwicklung und die aktuelle Situation des namibischen Bibliothekswesens sowie die Herausforderungen und Besonderheiten, mit denen Bibliotheken in Namibia konfrontiert sind. Betrachtet werden die Grundstrukturen des Bibliothekswesens, die Ausbildungs- und Personallage und die jeweils wichtigsten Bibliothekstypen im öffentlichen und wissenschaftlichen Bereich.
Abstract
The article gives a brief overview of the historical development and current situation of Namibia’s library system looking at challenges and particularities the country’s libraries have to face. Basic structures, professional training and staffing situation, as well as major library types in the public and academic sectors are discussed.
