High Temperature Material Chemistry

29 March-1 April 2016, Orléans, France

From the journal Chemistry International

The 15th International IUPAC Conference on High Temperature Material Chemistry (HTMC XV) will be held in Orléans, France, from 29 March to 1 April 2016. The conferences in this series are held every three years, the last occurring in Beijing, China in 2012, following Davis, USA in 2009. HTMC XV will take place in the Centre de Conferences d’Orléans, located near the historic center of the town, the city of Joan of Arc along the Loire river. The focus of the meeting will be to bring together people from the fields of chemistry, materials science, earth and planetary science, and metallurgy who are working in the area of high temperature phenomena in solid and liquid materials. Main Topics include:

  1. Melts, ceramics, glasses, and amorphous materials

  2. Corrosion, phase structure, and metallurgic processes

  3. Earth and planetary materials at high pressure and temperature

  4. Materials for nuclear energy applications

  5. Materials for solar energy: storage and receivers

  6. Materials for aerospace applications

  7. Transport, ionic and electronic conduction, densification, grain boundaries, interfaces, and surfaces

  8. High temperature thermodynamic measurements

  9. Interplay of theory and modeling with experiment on high temperature materials

  10. New insights in very high temperature materials science

The conference will consist of invited lectures, keynotes, and contributed papers. Six Speakers have confirmed their contribution for plenary lectures: Dr. Patrick Maestro, Scientific Director, Solvay (Belgium) - Member of the National Academy of Technologies of France; Dr. Sylvia Johson, Chief Materials Technologist, Entry Systems and Technology Division, NASA Ames Research Center (USA); Prof. Dr. Ralf Riedel, Dean of the Department of Materials and Earth Sciences, Technische Universität of Darmstadt (Germany); Prof. Alan Whittington, Chairman and E.B. Branson Professor of the Department of Geological Sciences, University of Missouri, Columbia (USA); Prof. Jinglin You, School of Materials Science & Engineering, Shanghai University, Shanghai (China); and Prof. Victor V. Ignatiev, National Research Centre “Kurchatov Institute”, Moscow (Russia)
