Abstract
This essay introduces the special section on undergraduate public history teaching. It explores its various opportunities, its challenges and some options for instructors to design their courses. In addition to presenting the six contributions of this special section, the author proposes some broader reflections on how undergraduate public history teaching can potentially change the ways history is taught but also researched and practiced in universities.
