Summary

The Reichsoberhandelsgericht as Cour de Cassation for Alsace-Lorraine and its jurisdiction in civil matters. From 1871 to 1879, the Reichsoberhandelsgericht functioned as the Supreme Court of the Reichsland Alsace-Lorraine. The article deals with the establishment of this Supreme Court and analyses its jurisdiction in civil matters. Special attention is paid to the court’s handling of the French civil law applicable in the Reichsland.
