Abstract
Fritz Laves' 100th birthday is an excellent reason to recollect his merits for the German and the international crystallography in general. This, however, would be a task too difficult for me though I consider myself a scientific grandson of him. Laves' crystallographic oeuvre (cf. Hellner, 1980) is almost too comprehensive to be valued by a single person of my generation. Accordingly, I will confine myself mainly on our common field of interest, i.e. on Mathematical Crystallography.
