Electrocatalytic Hydrogenation and Hydrogenolysis of Aromatic Halides by Raney Nickel in the Presence of Different Surfactants

Elektrokatalytische Hydrierung und Hydrogenolyse von aromatischen Halogeniden mit Raney-Nickel in Gegenwart verschiedener Tenside

Abstract

Electrocatalytic hydrogenolysis and hydrogenation of 4-halophenols, 4-chloroaniline and chloronitrobenzene have been investigated in aqueous media using different surfactant agents on two kinds of cathodes investigated on, Raney nickel electrode and carbon electrode.

Kurzfassung

Die elektrokatalytische Hydrogenolyse und Hydrierung von 4-Halophenol, 4-Chloranilin und Chlornitrobenzen wurde in wässrigem Medium an 2 Arten von Kathoden, Raney-Nickel- und Kohlenstoffelektrode, in Gegenwart verschiedener Tenside untersucht.

Dr. H. Ilikti was born in 1958, he has received his bachelor's degree in organic chemistry in 1984 and his master's degree in organic chemistry in 1992 from the University of Sciences and Technology Oran. He was awarded his PhD in organic chemistry in 2004 from the University of Sciences and Technology Oran. He has supervised more than 6 MSc and PhD students and published about 5 publications. He is currently a professor at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Sciences and Technology Oran, Algeria.

Dr. T. Benabdallah was born in 1957, he has received his bachelor's degree in organic chemistry in 1982 and his master's degree in organic chemistry in 1987 from the University of AIX-Marseille II under the supervision of Professor R. Guglielmetti. He was awarded his PhD in 1993 in organic chemistry from the University of Sciences and Technology Oran. He has supervised more than 8 MSc and PhD students and published about 15 publications. He is currently a professor at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Sciences and Technology Oran, Algeria.

Mrs S. Boukreris was born in 1971, she has received her bachelor's degree in chemistry engineering in 1997 and her master's degree in organic chemistry in 2005 from the University of Sciences and Technology Oran. She is currently a lecturer at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Sciences and Technology Oran, Algeria.

Dr. M. R. Aouad was born in 1975, he has received his bachelor's degree in chemistry engineering in 1998 from the University of Sciences and Technology Oran and his master's degree in organic chemistry in 2001 from Al Mustansiriyah University Baghdad. He was awarded his PhD in organic chemistry in 2006 from Alexandria University under the supervision of Professor E. S. H. El Ashry. He has published about 9 publications. He is currently an assistant professor at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Sciences and Technology Oran, Algeria.

Dr. El Sayed H. El Ashry was born in 1942, he has received his bachelor's degree in organic chemistry in 1963, his master's degree in organic chemistry in 1966 and his PhD in organic chemistry from Alexandria University. He was awarded the Alexander von Humboldt and Fulbright fellowships. He has been a visiting Professor at Tokyo Institute Of Technology, Ohio State University, Technological University, New York State University, Darmstadt Institute of Organic Chemistry, UmAlqura University and Konstanz University. He has given lectures at various universities, institutes, companies and conferences around the word. He is currently a Professor of Organic Chemistry at Alexandria University after being the head of the department for the last four years. He has supervised more than 70 MSc and PhD students and published about 300 publications and review articles in highly renowned journals in the field of carbohydrate and nucleosides a major area of research in the series (Heterocycles from Carbohydrate Precursors) and author of a book on (Synthesis of Naturally Occurring Nitrogen Heterocycles from Carbohydrates) 2005. He also edits various international journals. He has received many awards of recognition and distinction: in particular (Excellence) and (1st class Ribbon of Science and Art) awards from the president of Egypt.
