Studies on Acoustic and Thermodynamic Behaviour of Terbium Laurate and Myristate in Mixed Organic Solvents

Untersuchungen zum akustischen und thermodynamischen Verhalten von Terbiumlaurate und Terbiummyristat in Mischungen aus organischen Lösemitteln

Ultrasonic measurements were made on terbium laurate and myristate in 60/40 benzene-methanol mixture (v/v), to determine the critical micellar concentration (CMC), ultrasonic velocity and other acoustic parameters. The results confirm that there is a significant interaction between the soap and solvent molecules. The critical micellar concentration and thermodynamic parameters for dissociation and micellization process for terbium laurate and myristate in a mixture of 60/40 benzene-methanol (v/v) at different temperature were evaluated from conductivity measurements. The results showed that these soaps behave as weak electrolytes in dilute solutions.


In 60/40 (v/v) Mischungen aus Benzol und Methanol mit Terbiumlaurate und Terbiummyristat wurden Ultraschallmessung zur Bestimmung der kritischen Mizellbildungskonzentration (CMC), der Ultraschallgeschwindigkeit und anderer akustischer Parameter durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse bestätigen eine signifikante Wechselwirkung zwischen den Seifen- und den Lösemittelmolekülen. Die kritische Mizellbildungskonzentration und die thermodynamischen Parameter für den Dissoziations- und den Mizellbildungsprozess von Terbiumlaurate und Terbiummyristat in einer Mischung aus 60/40 (v/v) Benzol-Methanol wurden bei verschiedenen Temperaturen aus Leitfähigkeitsmessungen bestimmt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Seifen sich wie schwache Elektrolyte in verdünnten Lösungen verhalten.
