Abstract
A new method for the synthesis of ultrafine powder of chromium carbide is proposed, which combines liquid-phase precipitation on a carbon support and low-temperature microwave heat treatment in argon flow. The whole spectrum of the intermediate compounds obtained during thermolysis, reduction and carbonization of chromium precursors to the final product Cr3C2 is presented. The structure, morphology, particle size distribution, as well as the phase composition and the specific surface area values of the produced chromium compounds are shown.
