Open Cultural Studies is a peer-reviewed, scholarly journal that explores the fields of Humanities, Social Sciences and Arts. It interprets culture in an inclusive sense, in different theoretical, geographical and historical contexts. The Journal would like to promote new research perspectives in cultural studies, but it also seeks to map out social and political scholarship that places questions of inequalities and imbalances of power at the heart of academic debate.
Open calls for papers:
As an Open Access journal, Open Cultural Studies is committed to increasing public access to scholarship that covers an entire range of social and cultural phenomena both within and beyond the academy. It aims, in particular, to enhance international collaboration among scholars by bringing together researchers from the Global North and the Global South. The journal hopes not only to ensure that the latter research is better-represented in the academy but also to increase the visibility of researchers at early stages of career. By bringing together experienced/high-profile and emerging and Third- and First-World scholars, the journal aims to contribute to a wider understanding of culture and promote both innovation and inclusion.
We invite researchers, academics, teachers, practitioners, and educators to submit proposals for thematic issues/articles dealing with a broad range of subjects. These may include:

CALL FOR PROPOSALS FOR TOPICAL ISSUES
Why submit
Open Cultural Studies is a peer-reviewed, open-access, on-line journal. It offers a quick turnaround and the opportunity to reach a worldwide readership. Papers supported by two reviewers selected by the journal will be posted on the website immediately. We strive to provide authors with an in-depth and informed feedback from reviewers to help them to improve their work.
Journal’s procedures for external peer review
The journal has single blind review process. The authors’ names are revealed to the referees, but not vice versa. Authors can oppose particular reviewers and suggest persons competent to review their manuscript. However, the reviewers cannot be affiliated with the same institution. The final selection of reviewers is exclusively a decision of the Editor, who makes sure that there is no conflict of interest and that the reviewers are completely independent. Please see Editorial Policy and Guidelines for Reviewers (in Supplementary Information) for more details.
