Abstract

Zusammenfassung Durch den Einsatz von Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien (IuK) hat sich das Spektrum musealer Informations-präsentation und Besucherpartizipation erweitert. Museale Inhalte können hierdurch nicht nur real, sondern auch virtuell zugänglich gemacht werden. Im Ansatz des Blended Museums wird dem Konzept des Blended Learning folgend versucht, durch Kombination verschiedener Medien und Methoden eine didaktisch sinnvolle Verknüpfung zwischen dem realen und virtuellen Museum zu erstellen. Ziel dieser Vermischung ist es vielfältige Besuchererfahrungen (Visitor Experience) zu ermöglichen, welche durch innovative Interaktionstechniken, holistisches Informationsdesign und neuartige Vermittlungs-strategien erzielt werden sollen. Summary The possibilities of information presentation and visitor participation in a museum have been extended through usage of modern information and communication technologies. In this case the museum's content can not only be accessed by phys-ical means but virtually as well. Following the paradigm of blended learning we attempt to join various media and methodologies to incorporate didactical meaningful linkage between virtual and real museums to form a blended museum. The primary objective of our approach on a blended museum is to enhance the visitor's experience by focusing on innovative interaction techniques, information design and mediation strategies.

Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der Beitrag basiert auf einer Analyse der internationalen Forschungsliteratur und geht folgenden Fragen nach: wie ist das Verhältnis von Museumsbesuch und Internetnutzung in Deutschland, welche Informationsbedürfnisse haben virtuelle Museumsbesucher im Internet und wie verhalten sie sich, wie stehen sie zu hohen technischen Anforderungen von Web-Angeboten? Aus der Literaturanalyse werden Schlussfolgerungen für die Vermittlung und den Einsatz von Wissensmedien für virtuelle Museen im Internet gezogen. Summary The paper is based on an analysis of the international research literature and tries to answer the following questions: how correspond museum visits and Internet usage in Germany, what are the information needs of virtual museum visitors and how do they behave, how do they deal with high-tech Web sites? From the analysis some conclusions are drawn for the application of knowledge media for virtual museums on the Internet.

Abstract

Zusammenfassung In diesem Beitrag werden die Konzeption und die prototypische Umsetzung eines stereoskopischen Kurzfilms in Verbindung mit einem 3D Soundsystem auf Basis der Wellenfeldsynthese vorgestellt. Die Installation ist Teil einer Museumskonzeption für den geplanten barrierefreien Erlebnispark, Klostervision' in Georgenthal, Thüringen. Sie ist weltweit die erste Installation in diesem Anwendungskontext. Besonders wird auf das inhaltliche Konzept eingegangen, das mit Hilfe einer packenden Story die Immersion des Mediums für die Wissensvermittlung ausnutzt, und deren Wirkung erläutert. Weiterhin wird die Umsetzung beschrieben, deren Herausforderungen in stereoskopischen Realaufnahmen, computer-grafischen Szenen, 3D- Compositing und einer Integration in das räumliche Audiosystem IOSONO bestanden. Summary In this article, the concept and prototype production of a stereoscopic film is presented, in conjunction with a 3D sound system based on wave field synthesis. The piece is part of a museum design for the planned barrier-free cultural heritage park of a Monastery in Georgenthal, Thuringia. This is the world's first installation in this application context. Main emphasis is on the content concept, which lets a thrilling story fully exploit the new medium's immersive effects for knowledge transfer, and its implications. Further, some production challenges are explained, which were the integration of stereoscopic footage with computer graphics, 3D compositing and the final integration with the spatial audio rendering system IOSONO.

Abstract

Zusammenfassung Viele Museen suchen heutzutage neue Methoden und Wege, um Museen attraktiver zu gestalten und weitere Museumsbesucher und Zielgruppen anzusprechen. Eine Ausprägung davon stellen Science Center oder Themenparks dar, aber auch Kinder-, Kunst- und Technikmuseen mit digitalen Museum Guides oder „Exponaten zum Anfassen”. Basierend auf diesem Trend haben das ZGDV Darmstadt und die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar unabhängig voneinander multimediale Museumsanwendungen entwickelt, die insbesondere das jüngere Publikum in die Museen locken als auch „etablierte” Museumsgänger durch einen digital erweiterten Wissens- und Erlebnisraum ansprechen soll. Die Fallbeispiele des ZGDV „DinoSim Senckenberg”, „art-E-fact” und das innovative Präsentationssystem „iPX” repräsentieren interaktive Museumsanwendungen zur wissenschaftlich-technischen Simulation von Dinosaurier Laufstudien und der Exploration von Gemälden und Kunstobjekten sowie des menschlichen Körpers innerhalb der seitens des Heinz Nixdorf Museumsforum initiierten Sonderausstellung „Computer.Mensch” direkt vor Ort im Museum; „DinoExplorer Senckenberg” bietet eine virtuelle Umgebung zur spielerischen Exploration von Museumsräumen und Exponaten in Form einer emulierten Museumsrallye. Das digitale Osmantinum spricht den Literatur interessierten Besucher an und ist als mobiles Informations- und Führungssystem auf der Basis eines PDA's konzipiert, ohne die besondere Stimmung der Museumsräume zu stören. Summary Many museums nowadays search for new methods to make the museum more attractive and to reach new audiences. Based on this trend the ZGDV Darmstadt and the Bauhaus-University Weimar independently developed multimedia applications that address young audiences as well as “traditional” visitors and offer access to digitally enhanced Knowledge- and Experience Spaces. The works of ZGDV “DinoSim Senckenberg”, “art-E-fact” and an innovative presentation system “iPX” represent interactive applications for the museum for the scientific-technical simulation of dinosaurs movement, the exploration of paintings and art-objects and the human body in the Heinz Nixdorf Museum. “DinoExplorer Senckenberg” offers a virtual environment for the playful exploration (museum rally) of spaces and objects in the museum. The “Digital Osmantinum” addresses visitors interested in literature and is realized as a PDA based, mobile information and guidance system that does not interfere with the special aura of the museums rooms.

Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der Artikel stellt Richtlinien für eine Accessibility-orientierte Anforderungsanalyse (AORA) dar, die auf dem Konzept der Benutzerorientierung, dem Usage-Centered Design und dem Usability Engineering Lifecycle (Mayhew 1999) beruht. Ziel ist es, das oft vorherrschende Kommunikationsproblem zwischen Kunden und Softwareentwicklern mittels einer für beide Seiten einfachen, intuitiven und weiterverwendbaren Möglichkeit der Anforderungserfassung zu kompensieren. Accessibility-Belange werden dabei bereits während der Anforderungsanalyse einbezogen. Besonderer Wert wird dabei auf die Nutzerpartizipation, die Berücksichtigung von Accessibility-Kriterien sowie die Einbeziehung von Stakeholdern gelegt. Um die Ergebnisse wiederverwendbar zu gestalten, wurden Techniken der Domänen-Analyse eingesetzt. Um die oft schwierige Identifikation und Darstellung von Beziehungen zwischen nicht-funktionalen Eigenschaften und Aspekten des Nutzungskontexts (z.B. Nutzereigenschaften, Arbeitsumfeld) zu ermöglichen, wurde CONFEAT (Context-driven Feature Tree Generation) entwickelt – eine Methode zur kontextbasierten Erstellung von Eigenschaftsbäumen. Hierfür wurden Kreuztabellen aus der formalen Begriffsanalyse (FCA) mit Eigenschaftsbäumen (Feature Trees) aus der Softwaretechnik kombiniert. Summary The article introduces guidelines for an Accessibility-Oriented Requirement Analysis, based on the concepts of User-Orientation, Usage-Centred Design and the Usability Engineering Lifecycle. The target is to compensate the often predominant communication problem between customers and software developers. Furthermore it intends to incorporate accessibility issues within the requirements analysis. Particularly the user-participation, accessibility-criteria, and involvement of stakeholders will be considered in depth. The reuse of the results is facilitated by adapting principles of Domain Analysis. To identify and represent relationships between non-functional requirements and facets of use-context (e.g. user criteria, working environment) a new method – CONFEAT (Context-driven Feature Tree Generation) – has been introduced. This method allows creating context-driven Feature Trees. To utilize this concepts of the Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) are combined with Features Trees known from Software Engineering.

Objective
This journal is devoted to human-computer interaction, media design, usability, engineering and systems evaluation, software ergonomics, cooperative systems, e-learning, mobile and ubiquitous systems, user-adaptive systems, agent development tools and methods for media in different application fields (including e-business, knowledge management, leisure and entertainment, transport, engineering, and medicine), barrier-free systems design, and the social aspects of information and communication technologies.

The journal seeks to build bridges between research and practice as well as between teaching and business, emphasizing interdisciplinary teamwork and application-oriented solutions.

The journal is the official organ of the special interest group on "Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)" in the German Association for Informatics (GI).

i-com is an open access journal since 2023. It publishes English-language articles only. The publication frequency is three times per year.
