Abstract

This article is about polynomial maps with a certain symmetry and/or antisymmetry in their Jacobians, and whether the Jacobian Conjecture is satisfied for such maps, or whether it is sufficient to prove the Jacobian Conjecture for such maps. For instance, we show that it suffices to prove the Jacobian conjecture for polynomial maps x + H over ℂ such that satisfies all symmetries of the square, where H is homogeneous of arbitrary degree d ≥ 3.

Abstract

Suslin’s local-global principle asserts that if a matrix over a polynomial ring vanishes modulo the independent variable and is locally elementary then it is elementary. In this article we prove Suslin’s local-global principle for principal congruence subgroups of Chevalley groups. This result is a common generalization of the result of Abe for the absolute case and Apte, Chattopadhyay and Rao for classical groups. For the absolute case the localglobal principle was recently obtained by Petrov and Stavrova in the more general settings of isotropic reductive groups.

Abstract

In this note we show that there are a lot of orbit algebras that are invariant under stable equivalences of Morita type between self-injective algebras. There are also indicated some links between Auslander-Reiten periodicity of bimodules and noetherianity of their orbit algebras.

Abstract

In this paper we compute the trace formula for Hecke operators acting on automorphic forms on the hyperbolic 3-space for the group PSL2($\mathcal{O}_K $) with $\mathcal{O}_K $ being the ring of integers of an imaginary quadratic number field K of class number H K > 1. Furthermore, as a corollary we obtain an asymptotic result for class numbers of binary quadratic forms.

Abstract

We introduce conformally flat Fefferman-Lorentz manifold of parabolic type as a special class of Lorentz parabolic manifolds. It is a smooth (2n+2)-manifold locally modeled on (Û(n+1, 1), S 2n+1,1). As the terminology suggests, when a Fefferman-Lorentz manifold M is conformally flat, M is a Fefferman-Lorentz manifold of parabolic type. We shall discuss which compact manifolds occur as a conformally flat Fefferman-Lorentz manifold of parabolic type.

Abstract

It is shown that if Ω = Q or Ω = ℓ 2, then there exists a functor of extension of maps between Z-sets in Ω to mappings of Ω into itself. This functor transforms homeomorphisms into homeomorphisms, thus giving a functorial setting to a well-known theorem of Anderson [Anderson R.D., On topological infinite deficiency, Michigan Math. J., 1967, 14, 365–383]. It also preserves convergence of sequences of mappings, both pointwise and uniform on compact sets, and supremum distances as well as uniform continuity, Lipschitz property, nonexpansiveness of maps in appropriate metrics.

Abstract

We consider ideal equal convergence of a sequence of functions. This is a generalization of equal convergence introduced by Császár and Laczkovich [Császár Á., Laczkovich M., Discrete and equal convergence, Studia Sci. Math. Hungar., 1975, 10(3–4), 463–472]. Our definition of ideal equal convergence encompasses two different kinds of ideal equal convergence introduced in [Das P., Dutta S., Pal S.K., On and *-equal convergence and an Egoroff-type theorem, Mat. Vesnik, 2014, 66(2), 165–177]_and [Filipów R., Szuca P., Three kinds of convergence and the associated I-Baire classes, J. Math. Anal. Appl., 2012, 391(1), 1–9]. We also solve a few problems posed in the paper by Das, Dutta and Pal.

On the nonlocal Cauchy problem for semilinear fractional order evolution equations

Abstract

In this paper, we develop the approach and techniques of [Boucherif A., Precup R., Semilinear evolution equations with nonlocal initial conditions, Dynam. Systems Appl., 2007, 16(3), 507–516], [Zhou Y., Jiao F., Nonlocal Cauchy problem for fractional evolution equations, Nonlinar Anal. Real World Appl., 2010, 11(5), 4465–4475] to deal with nonlocal Cauchy problem for semilinear fractional order evolution equations. We present two new sufficient conditions on existence of mild solutions. The first result relies on a growth condition on the whole time interval via Schaefer fixed point theorem. The second result relies on a growth condition splitted into two parts, one for the subinterval containing the points associated with the nonlocal conditions, and the other for the rest of the interval via O’Regan fixed point theorem.
