Since 1946, the "Österreichische Musikzeitschrift" offers a unique forum for musicological discourse and the critical survey of the musical life. With the 66th volume, the tradition-rich journal, which is now supported by the Europäische Musikforschungsvereinigung Wien, moved to Böhlau Verlag in 2011. Its new publishers and editors are concerned with consistency as well as with change: they want to keep the high standard of high-class and comprehensible intermediation of scientific findings and critical reviews. At the same time, the thematic focuses on Old Music until the present are committed to a modern concept of music. Additionally, headings like "Neue Musik im Diskurs", "Lehren und Lernen" and "Das andere Lexikon" set a course in new directions.
