About this journal

Sociolinguistica is a peer-reviewed journal comprising two issues per year and covering a broad range of topics related to individual and societal language use in contexts worldwide, as well as the social conditions of language use and the impact of language on social structures. Seeking to spearhead debates on the future of macrosociolinguistics, the journal welcomes free submissions and proposals for themed issues in English, especially those aiming to thicken intersections with other fields in the social sciences and humanities. Alongside scientific articles of a more traditional format, it is open to alternative forms of scholarly writing (e.g. policy papers, opinion pieces, research reports, dialogues). It also prioritises reviews of books not published in English, so as to make accessible to a broader audience the important contributions of research conducted in other languages.

Possible topics include:

language and identity/religion/ethnicity/nationalism
language and (neo)colonialism/de-colonisation
language politics, policy and planning
language contact and conflict
languages maintenance, shift and revitalisation
language rights and linguistic justice
language and migration/integration
