Abstract

The stable phosphanes Me 2 POCH(CF 3 ) 2 and MeP[OCH(CF 3 ) 2 ] 2 have been prepared and reacted with hexafluoroacetone yielding 1,2-oxaphosphetanes. The analogous reaction with Me 2 PF was carried out giving a 1 : 1 : 1 mixture of a 1,3,2-, a 1,3,4-dioxaphospholane, and a 1,2-oxaphosphetane. P[OCH(CF 3 ) 2 ] 3 did not react with hexafluoroacetone. The new compounds were characterized by NMR, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis

The ionization energies of some chromium and tungsten pentacarbonyl complexes of the type [M(CO) 5 ] x L (L = N 2 H 2 , N 2 H 4 , NH 3 ; x = 1 or 2 for N 2 H 4 or x = 1 for N 2 H 2 ) are reported. The results are discussed in terms of the effects of σ-donor and π-acceptor bonds on XPS data. Satellite lines, which can be explained in terms of a shake-up process, give information about the nature of the metal-ligand bond. Correlation of measurements by mass, NMR and IR spectrometry were carried out for the determination of the structure and stability of beryllium chelates of substituted aceto-acetanilides. The substituents at the phenyl ring of the amide group influence the position of the stretching vibrations of the beryllium-oxygen bonds, the chemical shift of the amide proton and also the abundance ratios of specific ions of fragments in the respective mass spectra. Abstract

The reaction of CO with iron salts in the presence of benzene-dithiol depends on the oxidation state of iron, pH of the solution, temperature and CO pressure. In alkaline EtOH one obtains labile cis-[Fe(CO) 2 (C 6 H 4 S 2 ) 2 ] 2- complexes, which cannot be isolated in the solid state. On acidifying, oxidizing with O 2 or heating the solution, the CO ligands are split off; after reduction with NaBH 4 , CO can be co-ordinated again at pH > 7 under normal conditions. Reacting benzene-1-thiomethyl-2-thiol in alkaline medium with Fe 2+ and CO yields the isolable [cis-Fe(CO) 2 (CH 3 S-C 6 H 4 -S) 2 ], which is characterized by elemental analyses, IR, 1 H NMR and mass spectra. Abstract

3-Phenylpyrazole-5-diazonium chloride (2) couples with benzoylacetonitrile and with phenacylthiocyanate to yield the corresponding hydrazone derivatives 3 a, b. Whereas 3 a cyclised into the pyrazolo[1,5-c]-as-triazine derivative (4a) upon treatment with concentrated sulphuric acid via elimination of water, treatment of 3 b with the same reagent under the same conditions has resulted in elimination of thiocyanic acid and the formation of the pyrazolo[1,5-c]-as-triazine derivative (4b). Treatment of 2 with aqueous sodium acetate has afforded the corresponding 3-phenyl-5-diazopyrazole (6). The latter reacted readily with dipolarophiles to yield pyrazolo- [1,5-c]-as-triazine derivatives. Pyrazolo[1,5-c]-as-triazines has also been formed upon treatment of 6 with active methylene compounds. The mechanism of reaction of 2 and 6 with active methylene compounds is discussed. Diazotization of 5-amino-3-ethyl-1,2,4-triazole nitrate (7) has afforded the corresponding diazonium derivative which coupled with benzoylacetonitrile and with acetoacetanilide to yield the corresponding hydrazones 9 a, b. The latter could be cyclised into 1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-c]-as-triazines by the action of concentrated sulphuric acid

Abstract

Diorgano thallium hydroxide reacts very smoothly in organic solvents with catechols to stable paramagnetic ion pairs. This reaction has been investigated with two semiquinone anions and 13 different diorgano thallium cations. The data obtained indicate a strong dependence of the thallium coupling constant on the nature of the metal substituents. The effects observed are discussed in terms of electronic and steric interactions. All ion pairs indicate remarkable temperature dependence of the thallium splitting and the g-factor. These results are compared with the results obtained in alkali metal ion pairs using a model described in the literature
