Open Mathematics: Special Issue on Metaheuristics

Christian Blum, University of the Basque Country, San Sebastian, Spain
Angel A. Juan, Open University of Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain
Helena Ramalhinho, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Spain

This special issue will be dedicated to significantly extended versions of papers that were presented at MIC 2017 (Metaheuristics International Conference). However, submission will also be open for papers which were not initially presented at MIC.

The MIC conference series was established in 1995 and the one in Barcelona in 2017 will be its twelfth edition. MIC is a leading academic event focusing on progress in the field of Metaheuristics and the resulting applications.

As in previous editions, MIC 2017 (http://mic2017.upf.edu/) will provide an opportunity for the international Metaheuristics research community to discuss recent research results, to develop new ideas and collaborations, and to meet old colleagues and make new connections in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

The topics of interest include all those that were included in the CfP of MIC (see http://mic2017.upf.edu/topics/). Presentations covering all aspects of Metaheuristic research are welcome, including: new algorithmic developments, industrial applications, new research challenges, theoretical developments, implementation issues, in-depth experimental studies, hybrid metaheuristics, and related topics.

Apart from more theoretical papers and papers with a scientific background, the editors also welcome the submission of papers on real applications that had an impact on an industrial organization.

Before submission authors should carefully read the Instructions for Authors, which are located here.
